Posted by admin in BMW Cars on 01 31st, 2010BMW owners and fans are said to be very passionate, a common trait that connects all of us, not only to each other, but also to the brand. We go from uber taking care of our cars and detail the already detailed car to giving names to our bimmers as we would give to our loved ones. We also engage in extensive photoshoots and take countless of videos of our bimmers, then run off and start bragging about it left and right. Yes, we’re all guilty of that and we have nothing to be ashamed of. So when we came across this video, named “My One and Only”, we knew you would enjoy seeing it. And no, my one and only doesn’t refer to what you would expect, but rather a gorgeous black BMW 135i Coupe. Have a look at this video and enjoy the art put into it! Thanks for the tip Mark J. !

Editorial: BMW E28 M5 CSL
Posted by admin in BMW Cars on 01 31st, 2010BMW fans can be an eccletic, inventive bunch when it comes to their cars. In looking at most BMW enthusiast forums, you can easily find a large number of members who have modified their cars in at least some sort of manner. Whether it be short-shift-kits, the addition of Euro bumpers, or aftermarket wheels – BMW owners love to make their own cars unique and pop with personality. Even BMW modifies their own cars from time to time! One user on MyE28.com decided to really set apart his late 80’s E28 – by turning it what can only be called a M5 CSL. In reading through the posting about the car, owner and forum member Matts Kinnby constructed his Frankenstein E28 for two purposes: to build something unique and to win races. To build the one-off CSL, Kinnby took the body of an E28 M535i, stripped out the interior and discarded the engine replacing it with a modified S38B38 – the 3.8L inline-6 from the E28 successor the E34 M5. Additionally, the home grown race car received special lightweight brakes and the obligatory straight 80’s-style 16 inch deep dish, gold BBS rims, a fully revised race suspension and big, fat racing tires – all topped off with an enormous, nearly cartoonish, period-piece rear wing. To complete the look of a true Coupe Sport Light – Kinnby molded from another E28 a custom front and rear widebody kit requiring that the rear doors be sealed shut to accomodate the intakes for the brakes and round out the full replication of the 3.0 CSL body – effectively making this a true coupe. The E28 has even been topped off with the very 70’s M tri-color paint scheme. For those with very sharp eyes will notice the side vents of the current E60 M5 to supplement the longer, thinner vents of the standard E9 CSL. To top it all off, Kinnby and his crew took the impressive one-off Bavarian racing across Europe in older touring car and BMW Car Club events. While 2009 was a bit of a teething season for Kinnby and his group, they plan to campaign the unreal E28 throughout the 2010 season – with all of the kinks being worked out this custom M5 coupe should be a formidable adversary on the track. For those interested in finding out more about the M5 CSL you can find pictures and information on Matts Kinnby’s website or follow the evolving discussion on MyE28.com . Lumma CLR X650 : Hellooo beautiful!
Posted by admin in BMW Cars on 01 31st, 2010The fellows over at Autogespot have spotted the gorgeous Lumma CLR X650 somewhere on the streets of Paris. While most of the models we have seen so far from Lumma were sporting a white or black coat, this latest CLR X650 comes in an eye-popping red color. Back in 2008, the Winterlinger-based tuner, Lumma Design, unveiled for the first time their own version of the BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe. The CLR X650 comes with some impressive 23-inch wheels, mounted on a sport widebody kit that also includes 2 inch fender extensions. The front and rear spoilers received a new treatment as well, along with larger side skirts. Of course, carbon-fiber is being used all around, including the air ducted hood. Lowered sport suspensions designed by Lumma are completing the aggressive look and stand. The interior design has not been neglected and CLR X650 received a sporty treatment that includes leather and alcantara trim, along with sport seats and aluminum pedals. Lumma decided to go even further and worked their magic on the V8 Twin-Turbo as well by reprogramming the ECU and replacing the exhaust with a stainless sport system. We’re not usually fans of any “flashy bimmers”, but we have to say that this one has impressed us. [Source: Autogespot ]

GM liquidator sues BMW over gearbox supply contract
Posted by admin in BMW Cars on 01 31st, 2010The company charged with selling off General Motors’ unwanted assets, Motors Liquidation Company, is suing BMW for breaking the terms of a contract to buy gearboxes. MLC has filed a suit against BMW at New York’s bankruptcy court, disputing a reduced order for gearboxes from the GM Powertrains factory in Strasbourg, France. Reports suggest that MLC is seeking 1.38 billion dollars in damages, around 1 billion euros at the current exchange rate. GM has stated that the final figure has yet to be set. In 2004, BMW signed a deal with GM Powertrains for 200,000 six-speed gearboxes for the first generation BMW X3. The BMW contract accounts for 60 percent of the workload at the Strasbourg factory. Back in 2007, it is said that BMW has reduced the order to 150,000 gearboxes, hence the lawsuit by GM. The suit suggests the manufacturer should buy more than 200,000 gearboxes a year when the car market recovers or make up the lost orders in other ways — or face a claim for financial compensation. German publication Wirtschaftswoche quoted MLC as saying in the lawsuit that BMW constantly raised its technical demands, while an anonymous BMW source told the magazine the GM gearboxes were not up to standard — a claim denied by MLC. In the next few days, BMW will most likely issue an official response. [Source: MarketWatch ]

Formula 1: BMW-Sauber unveils C29 model in Valencia
Posted by admin in BMW Cars on 01 31st, 2010Yes, BMW retains its name in the Sauber team (due to FIA regulations), and today, in Valencia, Sauber unveiled their latest monopost: C29. Drivers Kamui Kobayashi and Pedro De la Rosa unveiled Sauber’s 2010 Formula One car and the team remains confident for the upcoming season despite the a lower budget and reduction in manpower. The spanish driver has raced in 71 Grands Prix and scored several podium finishes. He was also a test driver for seven years at McLaren.
